Hello All,
Please be careful when using bungee cords, a.k.a. shock cords for the
following reasons. A fellow motorcyclist tied his bundle to luggage rack
with bungee with xyl on board, fairly new bungee broke while doing abt
40mph, bungee entered rear wheel, it locked, both went down. Luckily they
were in full leathers and helmets so only sustained bumps and sprains but
the bike was a mess. My personal experience with them is: while tying down
a tarp the black "heavy duty" type bungee broke, came back and broke my
glasses. Hmmm, what if I weren't wearing the specs? I know some of you
listers will come back saying you've never heard or seen such a thing but
just be aware when using these sling shot like items that they can and do
break. 73's Bill, W1HPH Foster, RI

"shock cords"
are the elastic 'bungee' cords, usu about half length of your arm, too early
in morning to do u.s. to metric math,
rubber type rope straps usu w/ a hook of some sort on each end. 1000 uses
around the home and shop.
aka elastic tie-downs too.
