Hi everybody,
thanks to everybody who helped me (abt. 4 weeks ago) regarding this topic.
I used a 2 x 10m dipole feed with abt. 15m of ladder line, connected the
ladder line to a 4:1 balun (a beefy one - 2kW), and ran a short coax to the
tuner (I had a 3:1 SWR on all bands above 40m without the tuner)
This setup worked really nice. Even on 40m (where the feed line is a little
bit short) I had nice qsos. Even worked LU from EA6 in SSB by calling CQ.
Therefore the signal must have been ok. The performance on the other bands
was much better than expected. Even VP6/d (15m cw and ssb) and XR0X (24 SSB
and 15 SSB) went into my logbook ... not that easy from EU being /p...
I can really recommend this antenna system for /p locations. If you can put
it up very high it is even a very nice allband antenna for your home qth.
To have a better omnidirectional pattern you might want to put it up as an
inverted vee. You can't compete against a beam but it is a nice and easy
antenna.
Thanks again!
