Hi all,
The fact that CFA's work (or at least radiate something) is a proven point...
The fact that CFA's can work as well as a full sized radiator (as claimed) is
far from being proven.
Fake might be a bit strong but that its qualities have been _imbelished_ would
probably describe most of our sentiments. Many engineers feel that the CFA
_might_ offer some improvement over a very short (inefficient) vertical on the
AM frequencies. Practically all believe that the efficiency of a CFA can't
approach that of a 1/4 wave vertical radiator. Throw in the technical
complexity and installation cost and it becomes even less practical.
In the absence of hard technical data, I (and most other engineers) are very
skeptical about the CFA claims so far.
FWIW, there is some ongoing experimentation with CFA's by some of the big AM
consulting firms and equipment manufactures. They are, of course, being very
quite about their findings so far.
