Guys,
The only way to sort this is by independant scientific study, possibly
including animals to test for specific pathologies . IMO, it is very difficult
to prove this kind of study using evidence from humans as ages, eating
habits, genetic predisposition, life outside the experimental conditions
(I could go on) all vary so much. The only chance of drawing conclusions
from the populace is if a *specific* condition is reported by a
statistically significant proportion of the subjects (eg smoking and
lung cancer).
Now, finding an independant with the money to perform such a such
a large scale study is almost impossible. Many people who fund such
things have a vested interest. So, unfortunately we are stuck between
a rock and a hard place when it comes to finding how Jerry ended up with
cancer, but other microwaved octogenarians on the list run marathons
every weekend.
Professionally I am involved in setting up an EU multicentre clinical
trial, so I know the which hoops have to be jumped through to prove
things medically/scientifically for CE and FDA approval.
"Hooey" or otherwise, and whatever the cause, I am sure that everyone on
the list hopes that Jerry et al get well soon.
