I will second the motion for the Moxon rectangle. I've built a few of them,
and am still using one on 6 meters. You can picture the Moxon as a 2
element yagi with the ends of the elements folded back toward the center,
creating a "rectangle". The beauty of the Moxon is it has a broad beamwidth
and a very sharp null off the back. The resulting pattern is cardoid
shaped. As I remember, the forward gain is within a few tenths of a dB of a
normal 2 element yagi, and the f/b is nearly 60 dB.
You can find all of the modeled details, and building information on L.B.

I built mine out of 1/2" copper water pipe, but there is no reason why you
couldn't use wire. In practice, my antennas have had a reasonable amount of
gain for a 2 element yagi. They have a nice sharp null off the back, even a
strong signal will nearly disappear when in the null. The only area where
my antenna deviates from the computer model is it seems to have less gain
off the sides. The cardoid pattern is nearly omni directional, with a sharp
null off the rear. With my antenna, a signal will drop a couple of s units
when you rotate the beam from front to side. Which tells me the forward
lobe is about 6 dB stronger than the side [your s meter may vary, some
settling may have occurred during shipping, etc, etc...]. I'm not sure why,
maybe the metal mast pipe is distorting the pattern, who knows? Who cares?
It works pretty well.
Good luck with your project & 73
