[Antennas] Lazy H

I've been using a Lazy-H on 15m with great success. My
two sources for information have been this site on
W4RNL:
http://www.cebik.com/lh.html
And the ARRL Antenna Handbook (page 8-37 of the 18th
edition book).
Please note if you want this antenna to work
multi-band (which it does well), you must feed it in
the 'normal' style of the middle of the phasing line
between the two horizontal elements... but if you are
OK with single-band use, you can feed the center of
the bottom horizontal wire and invert the phasing line
between the two horizontal wires.
This is a balanced-line fed antenna, but you can use a
matching stub and balun to feed with coax pretty
easily.
I've done all the combinations and they all work (and
model) equally well, it's a matter of multi-band use
vs. ease of feeding.
As W4RNL's web site says, this is an old design that
people have sorta forgotten, but it only takes two
supports to put up, just like a dipole, and you get
some great gain and directivity! You do, however, need
some height since the elements are vertically stacked
- that's the limitation.
We used a 15m Lazy-H in the 2001 Field Day with the
top wire at about 85' and boy did it work well!
