[Antennas] Splicing Coax

Also well into the 'old fart' category.
I did/do it almost exactly the same.
But I roll the shield back into place over the splice and then carefully
wrap a few turns of small gauge copper wire around the braid.
I make it looked like "whipping" that is done to the end of stranded rope.
Then lightly solder all the way around the whipping and braid.
Repeat the process for the other end of the braid.
Then take the saved outer covering, split and replace.
Good tape job, and heat shrink over the whole thing.
But here is an important thing to remember.
When the coax is coiled and laying on the shack floor.
Make sure your NOT splicing one end to the other end...of the same piece of
coax.
Don't ask me how I learned to remember this!
