Hello to all:
I am a new General class operator (as of last saturday), My station is made
up of a Kenwood TS520s, (200w output) it also has the AT200 Antenna tuner.
Right now I have about 65 feet of fine wire making up a random wire antenna
running through the screen and out the window. It seems to work OK, but I
would like to improve it. My landlord has been gracious to me to allow me
to up up this antenna, but anything big or obvious is out, so I am limited
to stealth type antennas.
On 10 meters, when I key up, I get a huge blast of RF in the shack and the
monitor shuts itself off
On 20 meters I have made a few contacts, North Dakota, and Alabama, But I
dont seem to be getting much distance.
I made a contact into NW PA (from Ohio) on 40 meters, but again I dont seem
to have any punch to my signal.
I have not yet been successful making contacts on 80 meters, So I dont know
about this.
I need some suggestions to help my station. It has to be stealthy, I would
like to solve the problems of RF in the shack, and pick up some punch in the
signal.
The antenna slopes up from about 10 feet to about 30 feet over the 65 foot
run.
Thanks in advance for you help

PS If anyone would like to set up a sked to help me check things out. I
would be most appreciative.
THANKS
