The accepted concept is 6db per S unit...in reality though, NO SMeter
does the 6db per unit mark!! Never did!! Collins was the closest with
S9 being a set level (5uV if I recall???) but that was it...The S9
= certain level was the best anyone could shoot for...below that,
you took what it gave you...and with today's radios, its even worse!
My original National NC300 rcvr didnt meet the mark....you just CANT
do it without a processor....and they DIDNT have them back then... :)
AGCs are NOT linear and thats where 99% of S Meters are fed from...
