I think that you are a little confused. When I was in engineering
school, E.E.s bought log-log-duplex-vector slide rules, usually made
by K&E. The others needed only the decitrigs. The advantage of the
vector slide rules is in the name - the vector capability simplified
(?) ac calculations involving phase angles.
I doubt very much if today I could use the vector scales on my slide
rule, which I still have. But it became moot after I got my HP-35
"electronic slide rule."
