which is slightly related to the fact that the bridge doesn't point to
the physical interface fxp0 yet.
I manually re-issued the bridge setup from /etc/ifconfig.bridge0 and
everything is working now.

thanks for the vif-bridge script and the pointing to brconfig anyway!!!!
