I downloaded the current branch via CVS ('CVS/Tag' doesn't exist whichmeans it should be current?) and tried the aforementioned build.shcommands again but no luck, I also ran find on the build output obj dirbut no dice. Is it related to me building on an amd64 machine?

Oh, the issue is slightly hidden: apparently noone did the gdb setup
for riscv* on netbsd-10, so external/gpl3/gdb/lib/libgdb/arch
has neither riscv32 nor riscv64 subdirectories on that branch.
In -current (and upcoming -11) it works fine.
