Hm,
what do you know, NetBSD/i386 9.4 is similarly afflicted as
NetBSD/amd64:

error: could not compile `compiler_builtins` (lib) due to 1 previous error
This is when using the pkgsrc-provided LLVM.
Time to extend the arch coverage of that test to use a newer GCC
and re-try.
