That doesn't make sense at all ... :-(
What I wanted to write is:
Mac OS 10.<n> uses a Darwin <n>+4.
Here is a list of the codenames and versios:
Codename Version (latest version) Kernel (latest version)
Jaguar 10.2.* 6.???
Panther 10.3.* (10.3.9) 7.???
Tiger 10.4.x (10.4.11) 8.x.0 (8.11.0)
Leopard 10.5.x (10.5.2) 9.x.0 (9.2.0)
