It seems like what I'd call a hybrid programming language.
Reduces the "friction" of linking compiled and interpreted languages nearly zero.

I'd say this has a place. It might even be the future, considering that linking scripting and compiled languages is an excellent thing to do in the language specification rather than having every project reinvent the wheel.
