One learns something new every day! I never knew that ftp in Mac OS X
could handle an URL directly as in
ftp http://www.lua.org/ftp/lua-5.2.1.tar.gz
It even preserves timestamps without needing any switches!
Perhaps we should update the recipes at http://www.lua.org/faq.html#1.1 ...
