I apologize for my confusing use of the acronym “SAS”.
SAS is Statistical Analysis System. It was born at NC State University (USA), and was originally public domain. It is now a commercial product, and is the market leader in its area. It is now widely used in business and academia due to its data analysis power. I became acquainted with it through a university and its medical researchers in its free days. A sample business usage is the analysis of computer performance data. SAS’ ability to easily read many formats of data is a major selling point to its large non-IT following.
