I noticed that there was already a small Lua binding for TinyXML for Lua 5.0 (see http://lua-users.org/wiki/LuaXml) ; mine is for Lua 5.1. I wrote the code "by hand" (not using SWIG, tolua, etc.) -it's so easy to write bindings for Lua !-, it is not a full-featured binding, but it is highly sufficient for my needs... Cheers, Matias.
