Ah Ha...the part of th problem was at the front connection (using a 1/8" 
mini adaptor to 1/4" stereo)...bad connection. All is well in paradise 
again, except if I even lightly wiggle the 1/4" jack, the audio shorts 
out. If the DXD internal connector goes directly to a circuit board, I may 
have to send it off for repair.
