Note the the RigExpert also provides a substitute for the sound card,
and level conversions for all the possibilities of control signals
that I know of, including lines for CW keying, PTT, FSK, and rig
control, and uses a minimum of cables.
You can certainly get a USB "sound card" that Windows recognizes as
such, and use a Belkin, with appropriate level conversion, if
necessary for control. And it would work with MMTTY and MMSSTV, as well
as with MixW, and cost less, probably.
But I'm not sorry I have gotten the RigExpert.

The Belkin F5U103 USB/Serial adaptor will provide a true serial port
with proper address and IRQ. I've been using
two of them on a notebook with USB ports only, for both rig control (K2
& IC-706) and FSK (with MMTTY).
They run about 60ドル and can be found at Best Buy and/or CompUSA.
Check out AA5AU's RTTY website for more info about USB/Serial adaptors.
