comma indicating 'that' [conjunction]: I came to know, you got stuck

1) I came to know that you got stuck in traffic.
2) I came to know, you got stuck in traffic.
3) I came to know you got stuck in traffic.

I want to reduce the use of 'that'. So I want to avoid it where ever I can. So I wrote 2nd and 3rd. But I'm not sure whether the comma in the 2nd sentence is required.
You don't need a comma. And depending on your context, you might like a simpler verb -- a common way of expressing this is "I heard you got stuck in traffic" or "I heard you were stuck in traffic."

Came to know and learned are pretty formal/stilted, especially when followed by "got" ... but then again, it depends on context.
