DR of Denmark have informed Eurovoix.com that they have no plans to return to Junior Eurovision. This comes in the same week that NRK of Norway and Ketnet in Belgium have also said that they are not planning to return to the contest for the 2014 contest.
In a statement to Eurovoix.com the Entertainment Direct at DR, Rasmus Ladefoged said that:
DR has no current plans to return to JESC. We decided to leave the contest as the format does not match what we wish to do with our local competition.
There is a slim chance that interest may rise after they host Eurovision 2014, in which Gaia Cauchi the winner of Junior Eurovision 2013 will have a role.
DR were behind the contest that created Junior Eurovision back in 2003. In 2000 DR held a song contest for children which continued in 2001, by 2002 this had grown into MGP Nordic which saw Denmark, Norway and Sweden competing in the contest. In 2003 when Junior Eurovision was launched DR hosted the first contest in Copenhagen in which 16 countries competed. Denmark withdrew from the contest in 2006 despite never finishing lower than 5th in the three contests they participated in. When Denmark withdrew from the contest with Norway and Sweden, allegations spread that the Nordic nations were trying to limit the influence of Eastern Countries in the contest. At the time the Chairman of the Junior Eurovision Reference Group, Steve De Coninck said that:
They wanted to have a bigger power on the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and to have a 12-country limitation. In that way, they tried to stop the Eastern European invasion. That proposal was unacceptable, because they run counter to EBU’s philosophy.
DR continues to have it’s own domestic childrens competition called Dansk Melodi Grand Prix Junior, which takes place around the same time as the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix for Eurovision.
TV2 in Denmark are yet to respond to our enquiries.

Since launching Eurovoix in April 2011, it has been a pleasure to find out more about this amazing continent through the Eurovision Family of Events. From starting out as a small site, it's been brilliant to see the site grow and flourish and continue to bring our readers everything from the world of Eurovision.

JESC Rule #197: Countries that have been out of Junior Eurovision for what seems like forever must NOT claim their withdrawal to be a “permanent” withdrawal. That can make millions of JESC fans angry. For example, Denmark and Norway snubbed Junior Eurovision for Melodi Grand Prix Nordic (MGP Nordic) in 2006. People back then kept thinking that they could lose those two nations from JESC forever! The United Kingdom (UK) also withdrew that year. Croatia and Spain withdrew in 2007, due to organizing difficulties (IF I’m correct…), whilst Portugal withdrew in 2008 due to a lack of interest. Greece was gone in 2009, whilst Cyprus and Romania were packing up and leaving the contest in 2010. Albania, Belgium, and Israel all withdrew in 2013. Now who knows? At least one of those countries could easily return in 2014 (in a good way :D)!! Fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, I was hoping Bulgaria could return next year 🙁
first ireland but tg4 has interest than norway than belgium en now danmark who is next spain and france
later it wil be a east european contest
Spain is interested in Jesc. Yago Fandiño Said it and they could Return to Jesc. Also the New Clan TVE Format include paneuropean competitions
I can tell you now the UK will never return to JESC either, it just wouldn’t get enough viewership here, young children in this country wouldn’t be interested in hearing foreign languages sadly.
It’s the old joke. Britishs doesn’t make an effort for learn foreign languages. Jesc could help the New Generation for learn foreign languages no?
It would be helpful, but the new generation probably wouldn’t see JESC or ESC as educational, they take after their parents thats the problem, they would see it as something to mock and laugh about.
They are bloody ignorant to mainland Europe, it annoys me so much that people don’t take foreign language lessons seriously in schools over here, some see it as a waste of a subject. It annoys me that British people expect everyone to learn their language but then because they’re typically lazy they can’t be bothered to learn over peoples language. I’m not like that, although my school messed up my French qualification, putting me on to a course thats looked down on here because theres no exams in it just assignments. But thanks to watching Eurovision and JESC I know bits of languages (Spanish, Russian, Serbian, Welsh, French, Dutch, German and Italian), although I’m not fluent in any of them.
I know how teenagers and young people are towards Eurovision and JESC in the UK because I’m 18 myself.

ahahaha good on Denmark and Norway trying to stop an eastern junior Eurovision invasion or maybe a better word to descrive it would be a ‘plague’.
i have translate with Google
Although the organizers of the Croatian initially decided that this year, our representative will participate in the Eurovision contest, rumored to be the guys from the band Lines and Colours could be the next candidate.

yes i have translate in italian the article with Google translate Hroatia confirmed?
They’ve said on Eurovision times when I shared the link that the site isn’t credible enough to assume Croatia have changed their minds.
But if we want to stop the eastern invasion must the other countries not join like the U.K or belgium
At least, there is a possibility that Denmark would return to the contest after they host the Eurovision 2014.
