15mm Sci Fi News from Critical Mass Games
.
Whilst my boots have been very solidly dirtside over the past week to ten days, the great galactic manufactoriums have continued pouring out 15mm Sci Fi goodness.
Wave 3 of Critical Mass Games acclaimed 15mm Sci Fi range are about to be released and will introduce the first Arc Fleet Heavy Grav AFVs plus the eagerly awaited for Laser Defence Platform.
First off, let's talk TANKS! Critical Mass Games will be releasing two versions of the ARC Fleet heavy tank, the Mark I turret version, a buttoned up resin turret, and the Mark II Command turret that comes with two crew and two hatches which can be positioned as required. Both variants will be supplied with three barrel options, the rail gun, the cannon, and the energy gun, and two missile packs.
Critical Mass Games will also be selling the Arc Fleet Heavy Tanks in a platoon deal consisting of 2 MkI kits and 1 MkII kit for £23.50.
My thoughts? Well thought out, nicely detailed and good choice of optional arnament. Another example of John Bear Ross's master craftmanship, these tanks are substantial bits of kit to dominate the tabletop with. These will be the King Tigers of the Sci Fi armour world!
Next....let's look at the Laser Defence Platform. The LDP is £3.20 and contains 2 random crew from packs AFSR1 & AFSR4.
Critical Mass Games are finally moving server this weekend after a prolongued battle with the service provider. Craig hopes this will be resolved by Monday, 26th October, when these new releases become available.
Cheers

Life Work The Universe......and Redundancy

Listen Up Marines!
Chief Hannam and I are more used to saving planets from all sorts of alien critters. But the Chief has been planetside this week confronting more pressing earthly issues.
If you've kept up with the scuttle on the blog, you'll know that Chief 's company are due to disband 600 slots from their TOE, mostly down to mice economics and Vogon bureacracy.
The Chief's been heavily engaged in a rearguard action, going mano a mano with the corporate Head Shed to save as many slots as he can. His latest transmission suggested that it was bloodier down there than the Roman forum on the Ides of March, and everyone seems to be both Caesar and Brutus in equal measure.
Remember Chief: Illegitimi non carborundum!

GZG 15mm New Israelis - Original vs New Sculpts
.
A quick comparison photo to demonstrate the size difference between the oroginal SG15-Z1 New Israeli pack and the newly sculpted packs announced this week on Dropship Horizon.
SG15-Z1 were always the smallest of GZG's SG15 range, the slightly larger new sculpts bring them into line with the rest of the original Stargrunt 15mm figures.

New Khurasan Miniatures Pelagic Drop Pod
.
The Pelagic Dominate make full use of biological terror weapons in seizing other worlds. They mainly take the form of various space horrors - bred, transported, corralled into drop pods before being launched in their tens of thousands on unsuspecting planets. On the ground, the drop pods spring open to unleash the terrors and spread confusion and panic amongst defenders and civilians alike.
The Drop Pod comes as a two part kit - base, which represents the landed and open pod and the central column, with a small remote auto-cannon.
An amazing amount of detail is present on both the top and bottom of the drop pod. This allows you to model the pod in crashed or semi open condition - if you want to go to that amount of work.
The Drop pod measures 6x6cm and stands 30mm tall with the central column in place.
I have a couple of these Drop Pods already because I thought they would be immensely useful to mark the extent of drop zones and represent infantry drop pods regardless of their physical size on the tabletop.
I've only recently read that Ridley Scott is in talks to do a new Aliens movie, this time with Predators dropping the Aliens on Earth in drop pods. You've got to admit that Jon at Khurasan is ahead of the wave! - I can already see the Ambush Alley or similar scenarios where the Drop Pods land on present day Earth creating 'hotspots' out of which come tumbling the Khurasan Space Demons!

New Khurasan Miniatures 15mm Cnidarian Overlords
.
Tonight I'm pleased to present on Dropship Horizon, a 15mm Sci Fi senient alien species that is completely out of this world - the Pelagic DominateCnidarian Overlords.
These are really substantial miniatures which have beautifully sculpted tentacles operating weapons. The painting shown here has really captured the detail. The Cnidarians are 20mm tall and have a 20mm wide integral metal base on which the leg tentacles are sculpted.
I can only take my hat off to Jon at Khurasan for dring to met gamers requests for an alien that is truly alien and not just the Dr Who man-in-rubber-suit monster from outer space.
3 miniatures come in a pack, each one consists of the main body, separate two 'arm' tentacles and separate generator unit.
