Over the last few weeks, I've gotten three questions repeatedly:
1)Is there a single page that features the links to all your Sopranos Rewind columns?
2)How long have you been writing these columns?
3)Are you going to put together all your columns in a book?
4)What are you going to write about now that the show is over?
To answer said questions...1)There isn't a single place that I know of, so at the end of this entry I'm going to put links, in reverse chronological order, to all the Rewind columns (or the Rewind-esque columns I did before my editors gave the concept a name).
2)I've been covering the show for The Star-Ledger since the start of the fourth season (Matt Zoller Seitz did brilliant work on seasons one through three), but I only started doing the weekly day-after reviews at the beginning of last season. (Sometimes, it takes a while for the good ideas to come out.) However, there were two episodes in season four and two in season five that I felt momentous enough to do insta-reviews of: "Whoever Did This" (Ralphie dies), "Whitecaps" (Carmela kicks out Tony), "Long-Term Parking" (Adriana dies) and "All Due Respect" (Tony B. dies).
3)It's something I've been thinking about (probably timed to the final DVD release), and talking about with the aforementioned Mr. Seitz. Any of the hundreds of book editors who are no doubt riveted to this blog, feel free to drop me a line at the address below, and we'll chat.
4)Hey, I still write a regular TV column for The Star-Ledger, and I also write a daily blog called What's Alan Watching? where, as the title suggests, I write about what I watched on TV the night before. Some of the reviews are as in-depth as my stuff on "The Sopranos" (for instance, reviews of "The Wire" or ""The Office" or "Deadwood") and some are fairly brief (not a lot to analyze in your average "My Name Is Earl," even the good ones).
Anyway, here's your handy-dandy list of links to all the day-after reviews, plus the David Chase interview about the series finale, from most recent to furthest in the past:
"Mr. & Mrs. John Sacramoni Request..."
"The Fleshy Part of the Thigh"
"Long-Term Parking" (NOTE: For some reason, this briefly turns into the "All Due Respect" review in the middle before turning back into the "Long-Term Parking" review. I'll look into fixing that.)
Back Friday morning with some final reader theories on "Made in America." See you then.
