RC5 was GOLD, so version 8.5.0 GA was just released, at the planned date.

A great thanks to Volker Dusch, Daniel Scherzer and Pierrick Charron, our Release Managers, to all developers who have contributed to this new, long-awaited version of PHP, and to all testers of the RC versions who have allowed us to deliver a good-quality version.

RPMs are available in the php:remi-8.5 module for Fedora and Enterprise Linux ≥ 8 and as Software Collection in the remi-safe repository.

RPMs of PHP version 8.4.15 are available in the remi-modular repository for Fedora ≥ 41 and Enterprise Linux ≥ 8 (RHEL, Alma, CentOS, Rocky...).

RPMs of PHP version 8.3.28 are available in the remi-modular repository for Fedora ≥ 41 and Enterprise Linux ≥ 8 (RHEL, Alma, CentOS, Rocky...).

i️ The packages are available for x86_64 and aarch64.

i️ There is no security fix this month, so no update for versions 8.1.33 and 8.2.29.

These versions are also available as Software Collections in the remi-safe repository.

⚠️ These versions introduce a regression in MySQL connection when using an IPv6 address enclosed in square brackets. See the report #20528. A fix is under review and will be released soon.

With version 7.4 Redis Labs choose to switch to RSALv2 and SSPLv1 licenses, so leaving the OpenSource World.

Most linux distributions choose to drop it from their repositories. Various forks exist and Valkey seems a serious one and was chosen as a replacement.

So starting with Fedora 41 or Entreprise Linux 10 (CentOS, RHEL, AlmaLinux, RockyLinux...) redis is no more available, but valkey is.

With version 8.0 Redis Labs choose to switch to AGPLv3 license, and so is back as an OpenSource project, but lot of users already switch and want to keep valkey.

RPMs of Valkey version 9.0 are available in the remi-modular repository for Fedora ≥ 41 and Enterprise Linux ≥ 8 (RHEL, Alma, CentOS, Rocky...).

So you now have the choice between Redis and Valkey.

Version 8.5.0 Release Candidate 1 is released. It's now enter the stabilisation phase for the developers, and the test phase for the users.

Version 8.5.0alpha1 has been released. It's still in development and will enter soon in the stabilization phase for the developers, and the test phase for the users (see the schedule).

RPM of this upcoming version of PHP 8.5, are available in remi repository for Fedora ≥ 41 and Enterprise Linux ≥ 8 (RHEL, CentOS, Alma, Rocky...) in a fresh new Software Collection (php85) allowing its installation beside the system version.

⚠️ PHP version 8.0 has reached its end of life and is no longer maintained by the PHP project.

🛡️ These Versions fix 3 security bugs (CVE-2025-1220, CVE-2025-1735, CVE-2025-6491), so the update is strongly recommended.
