1. Using the WFDB Library

This chapter gives a brief overview of the steps needed to compile, load, and run a program that uses the WFDB library. It assumes that you are able to log onto a Unix-based computer on which the WFDB Software Package has been installed (see section Installing the WFDB Software Package), and that you know how to create a source file using a text editor such as emacs or vi. If you are using an MS-DOS system, there are a few differences noted below.

1.1 A Trivial Example Program in C A trivial example program.
1.2 Compiling a Program with the WFDB Library Compiling a C program with the WFDB library.
1.3 Using the WFDB library with other languages Using the WFDB library with C++, Fortran, Java, Perl, Python, C#, or Matlab.
1.4 The Database Path and Other Environment Variables WFDB library environment variables.
1.5 Running the Example Program Running the example program.
1.6 A Note on Identifiers Names to avoid when writing your programs.
1.7 More About the WFDB Path Customizing the WFDB path.
1.8 Exercises A few questions.
